J. Marc Lewis JD, LL.M., EA
Marc is a graduate of Plano East Senior High. He earned a BBA from Southern Methodist University, a JD (Juris Doctor) from Southern Methodist University School of Law, and a LLM (Masters of Law in Taxation) from the University of Miami School of Law. In addition, Marc is enrolled to practice before the IRS by the Department of the Treasury.
Marc is a sixth generation resident of Collin County and comes from a long time of self-employed family members including his parents and both sets of grandparents. He and his wife Stephanie currently reside in Murphy with their two daughters, Meredith and Morgan.
Marc has been a Rotarian for about two decades and he has long served on the Board of Directors of two large Plano-based charities: Plano Sports Authority and The Plano Balloon Festival.
Marc is the long-time president of the North Texas Collegiate Baseball Umpires Association and served as the National Umpire Advisor to the American Amateur Baseball Congress. In his 30+ years of umpiring, Marc has worked multiple post-season assignments for the NCAA and NCJAA and has also worked multiple other post-season assignments for other amateur associations. He is currently on the conference staff of The Big XII, The American Athletic Association, The Mountain West Conference and Conference – USA.
Stephanie joined the firm as office manager in 2007 and is the “grease” that keeps the business running smoothly. All who deal with Stephanie can attest to her efficiency and pleasant manner.
Prior to this position she worked for Baron and Budd, P.C. in Dallas and The Carpenter Law Firm in Plano … as well as teaching at a preschool before that.
Stephanie grew up in Plano and graduated from Plano East Senior High. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in General Studies, focusing on English, Sociology and Psychology. Stephanie is married with two young sons who enjoy attending hockey games.
Kathy joined the firm in 2011 and keeps the paper moving and the communication flowing within the office as well assisting Marc wherever possible. Her primary duties include filing state Franchise returns, filing extensions and e-filing the tax returns themselves. She is also responsible both the opening and closing of entities.
Before joining the firm, Kathy was employed for 15 years with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as both a Programmer and a Project Manager. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems. Currently she lives in Plano with her husband Steve and son Jacob.
Their oldest son, Ryan, lives in San Francisco and currently works for SAP iO. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Masters in Computer Science. Their youngest son, Jacob, is a senior at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas where he enjoys playing both Football and Competitive Shooting. He will be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2020.
Kathy and Steve both enjoy spending time with family and attending any kind of sporting event.
Linda is one of our Senior Tax Preparers and is registered with the IRS. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, she worked in the tax preparation industry for over 15 years. Linda has also worked for a software company in their accounting department and served as music director and organizer for several churches.
Linda was born and raised in Corning, New York, home of Corning Glass Works. She was an organ major at SUNY at Fredonia where she met her husband, John, who was a percussion major. Linda has lived in several states including Tennessee, Maryland, Colorado and Hawaii. She has lived in Texas over 20 years.
Linda owned and operated a bed and breakfast in the Finger Lakes Region of New York state.
Todd joined the firm in 2015 as the director of operations and tax preparer. His role has evolved into the lead on all IRS representation issues. In addition, Todd is enrolled to practice before the IRS by the Department of the Treasury.
Prior to joining the firm, Todd spent 20 years as a Vice President and Director of Operations for a food and beverage and live music entertainment company. Prior to that, he taught golf for Club Med and ran its only golf academy in the North American Zone.
Todd grew up in Plano and is a graduate of Plano East Senior High. He earned a BA from The University of Texas at Austin and majored in government. He lives in Murphy with his wife, Tanya, two daughters Layne and Elyssa and the star of the show, Arthur. Arthur is a 95-pound great pyrenees/standard poodle mix..
Carmen joined the firm in 2018 as Senior Tax Preparer, focusing on individual taxpayer returns. She enjoys working with people and looks forward to assisting clients with their individual tax needs. Carmen is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS.
Prior to joining the firm, Carmen was a tax professional at another tax preparation firm in Richardson for 17 years. She has also worked as an office manager in the lending division of a major bank.
Carmen grew up in central Texas, in a small farming community north of Austin. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas in Austin. Carmen and her husband, Steve, enjoy traveling, frequently visiting Austin and NYC. She has two adult children and recently welcomed her first grandchild to the family.
Jeff is one of our Senior Tax Preparers and a licensed CPA. He prepares the Corporate and Partnership returns for the office. He also has extensive bookkeeping experience and is the go-to person in the office for QuickBooks.
Prior to joining the firm in 2018 he worked for various CPA firms for over 28 years and spent 9 years working in the accounting and tax departments of various companies.
Jeff was born in New York and came to Dallas in 1972 as a result of his parents wanting to raise their children in Texas.
Jeff and his wife Sandi have resided in Plano for the past 30 years and have one daughter, Rebecca, who earned her Engineering Physics degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She lives in Austin and works as a Data Analyst for an International Company.
Susan joined the firm in September 2020 as Assistant Project Manager. She assists Kathy in overseeing the processing of each return, e-filing, filing extensions, processing 1099’s, etc… and making sure no detail gets overlooked.
Outside of working at J. Marc Lewis & Associates, Susan is a small business owner and professional musician. She owns Imperial Brass, LLC which is a musician contracting business, with a focus on brass ensemble music. They provide a variety of musician services at many of the local churches, music for weddings and special events, graduations, etc. She is also an active free-lance musician, holding positions in the Plano Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, East Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Winds for over 20 years.
Susan is originally from Burnsville, Minnesota. She holds a Bachelors in Music Performance (French Horn) and a Bachelors in Sound Technology from Northwestern University. She also has a Masters in Music Performance (French Horn) from SMU. She and her husband Nathan reside in Frisco with their two sons, Jonathan and Elliott, who attend Legacy Christian Academy.
